This is Queens Blvd. at something like 5:30 a.m. as I walked along... I did almost two miles in Queens then hopped a bus into Manhattan to do 9 more miles. It was a fruitful walking day even though my head was not in it the way I wanted it to be. I was distracted by the new hiking shoes I was wearing as well as the squeak of the sock liners I was wearing. Love my boots better. But it is May and it is WARM. Live and learn, boots will be my go-to pair no matter how silly I look (and I do look silly!)
I am also not thinking the way that I need to be about this weekend. More on that later or by Monday. We shall see if I will add some thoughts about the importance of this weekend to me.

Above is a memorial to a biker killed on the BOULEVARD of DEATH, the cheery moniker for Queens Blvd. as many people are killed here each year, one of the worst pedestrian challenges in all of America!
Here are some poppies along the West Side Highway promenade, they were a beautiful surprise as I walked along!
